I’m always keen to write about the many great crafters I found over the wonderful blog and flickr world, but I have a big question here:
Do I need to inform the owner of the use of their shop item photos before I post? I will save a copy of the photos on my own pc before I upload to my blog, but do I still need to ask for permission? Am I infringing anyone’s copyrights if I just go ahead to post the pictures?
This issue is so confusing, I would appreciate any comments and help. Thank you.

I believe I’ve read somewhere that always linking and citing sources is proper “Blogging Ettiquette”
I’m sure if you let them know via email they wouldn’t mind.
Anything that would bring traffic back to their own site would be appreicated. . . .

I always link to and mention the photo at whatever site it is on, rather than copying a photo and putting it on my blog. I would email if I were to use someone else’s photo on my blog though…?
I know quite a few blogs that regularly use other people’s flickr photos directly on their blog. They link and state who took the photo and where they found it quite clearly…I would doubt they email as there would be too many?
Does that help? or am I now rambling…

Well, definitely if you use a picture, link or cite. Sometimes linking uses up the other person’s bandwidth so that can be not so nice. If you’re going to use another’s picture, it would be nice to send an email, saying something like, “Oh, I’ve posted your pic, let me know if you want me to take it down” or something like that.
